Hidden in all the (bad) rumors about "Battlestar Galactica" moving to NBC, one rumor that didn't get much light appears to be the one that actually has some substance to it:
"Battlestar Galactica" is moving to a new time, possibly even a new night.
In his weekly "Ask Ausiello" column, TV Guide columnist Michael Ausiello revealed that SciFi Channel could be looking to move "Battlestar Galactica" out of its Friday 9 p.m. ET time slot into one when more people may actually be around to watch the show.
Rumors have been afloat for the past couple weeks that "Battlestar" would actually move to Wednesday nights at 8 p.m., serving as sort of a cross-network lead in to "Lost" audiences on ABC, which airs at 9 p.m.
In his report, Ausiello cited "Battlestar's" struggle in the ratings, although the show is only down a few tenths of a rating point up against broadcast network competition. However, since SciFi Channel has such an open original programming schedule, especially during a time when cable channels usually don't air original programming, the network has a tremendous amount of flexibility in where to air a show, and getting it on a timeslot that works best.
If the show were to move to Wednesdays, as rumored, its broadcast competition would include "Jericho" on CBS, "Bones" on Fox and reality television on ABC and NBC (shows like "Dancing with the Stars" and "Biggest Loser.")
"Battlestar Galactica" has aired Friday nights since it was first launched, moving to 9 p.m. ET at the start of the third season.
Of course, this is all still rumor and speculation, and could change at any time, or be inaccurate. So please treat it as you would any other rumor.
