Congratulations to our good friends at Slice of Scifi for being Scifi.com's site of the week last week, Slice of Scifi originated from Trekunited.com and Dragonpage.com and since has grown into there own very popular scifi podcast and news site. So we congratulate our friends at Slice of Scifi on a job well done. Slice of Scifi has had some Battlestar Galactica related podcasts recently, the latest featuring Tricia Helfer (Number Six) Click Link To Listen!
The following is the article from Scifi.com, written by A.M. Dellamonica:
There was a time when radio programming about science fiction was a rarity, an odd sort of luxury mostly reserved for those within broadcast range of Southern California and the infamous Hour 25. Like so many things, the Internet—and particularly podcasting—have changed all that. Radio as it was has undergone a revolution, and now instead of searching the airwaves in vain, curious listeners can download any number of shows featuring lively discussion of the fantastic genres. Slice of SciFi is one such show, and at the program's Web site visitors can find a convivial mix of convention listings, fan comments on each week's episode, a William Shatner DVD club, polls, reviews and a news blog ... as well as the archive of the show itself, which has been running since March of 2005. The most recent podcast features an interview with Battlestar Galactica's Katee Sackhoff; other guests of note include Bruce Campbell, Forrest J. Ackerman and Walter Koenig. Voice-mailed responses to various episodes are gathered into their own programs, giving fans extensive scope for cheering or bashing what they hear.
Both this Web site and the audio show lean heavily to covering television and film (with a smattering of comic-book, technology and science news) rather than books. The show's creators are especially fond of Star Trek—in fact, the site grew out of the fan outcry over the cancellation of Star Trek: Enterprise—but all the SF media franchises get good coverage. Chatty, hip and entertaining, Slice of Sci-Fi is definitely worth a listen.
