Let the recognition continue to roll in for shoes like "Battlestar Galactica" and "Heroes," this time with the Writers Guild of America, which tends to sometimes be a precursor to possible Emmy attention. The two-part third season premiere of "Battlestar Galactica," the Ronald D. Moore-penned "Occupation" and "Precipice," earned a nomination for Episodic Writing, joining ABC's "Lost" in the category for the episode "Two for the Road," written by Elizabeth Sarnoff and Christina Kim. Other nominees in the category include "The West Wing," "Nightmares & Dreamscapes," "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" and "Big Love."
"Lost" actually was a double-nominee, also getting a nod for Dramatic Series along with "24," "Deadwood," "Grey's Anatomy" and "The Sopranos." The writing team for "Lost" earning the recognition includes J.J. Abrams, Monica Owusu-Breen, Carlton Cuse, Leonard Dick, Drew Goddard, Javier Grillo-Marxauch, Adam Horowitz, Dawn Lambersten Kelly, Kim, Edward Kitsis, Damon Lindelof, Steven Maeda, Jeff Pinkner, Matt Ragghianti, Sarnoff and Alison Schapker.
Finally, NBC's "Heroes" is among the nominees for New Series joining programs such as "30 Rock," "Friday Night Lights," "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" and "Ugly Betty." The writing staff for "Heroes" that are included in the nomination are Jesse Alexander, Adam Armus, Natalie Chaidez, Aron Eli Coleite, Kay Foster, Bryan Fuller, Michael J. Green, Tim Kring, Jeph Loeb and Joe Pokaski.
Among the other nominations, "The End of the Whole Mess," an episode of TNT's Nightmares & Dreamscapes: From the Stories of Stephen King limited series, got a nod for best episodic drama; the teleplay was by Lawrence D. Cohen, based on the short story by King.
