SCI FI SCORES SECOND HIGHEST FOURTH QUARTER EVER AMONG ADULTS 18-49
CHANNEL BOASTS DOUBLE DIGIT INCREASES AMONG YOUNGER VIEWERS FOR FOURTH QUARTER
New York, NY, Fueled by strong performances from original programming, SCI FI Channel had its second strongest fourth quarter ever among adults 18 49, trailing fourth quarter 2002 when the blockbuster 20-hour epic miniseries 'Steven Spielberg Presents TAKEN' premiered. SCI FI ranked a strong number six in cable primetime for the last quarter of 2006 among adults 2554. Gains include a 29% surge among adults 1834, a 33% increase among men 1834, and a 22% rise among women 1834 vs last year's fourth quarter. SCI FI also enjoyed a 6% jump in adults 1849, and a 2% increase among adults 2554 vs last year.
'Battlestar Galactica,' which premiered its third season on October 6th, 2006, showed growth among younger and female audiences, and outpaced Season 2.5 (January March 2006) by 8% among adults 1834. Up 15% among the teen audience of 1217 year olds, and with a 20% increase among women 1834, a 17% increase among women 1849 and 14% increase among women 2554, 'Battlestar Galactica's' median age is 1.2 years younger than Season 2.5.
2006 highlights for SCI FI Channel include the series premiere of 'Eureka' on July 18, 2006, which was the highest rated and most-watched series telecast to air on SCI FI in the network's history with a 3.3 household rating, 1,802,000 adults 1849, 2,028,000 adults 2554 and 4,164,000 total viewers. 'Ghost Hunters' also outdelivered its season 2.5 delivery in households (+15%), total viewers (+13%), adults 1834 (+6%), teens 1217(+10%), adults 1849(+22%) and adults 2554 (+28%).
SCI FI has maintained a 1.0 household rating for its fourth consecutive year, as well as maintaining over one million total viewers in prime for the fifth consecutive year. SCI FI was the seventh ranked cable entertainment network in primetime among adults 2554, edging out Discovery Channel.
