Ok kiddies, we heard one of the nastiest rumors on the net that we’ve heard in a long time….over at Ain't It Cool News they reported a rumor that Battlestar Gallactica would not be renewed for another season. Thankfully, our reporter, Brian Sebastian, was coincidentally covering the TCAs (Television Critics Association) today in Pasadena, California and was at the NBC - Sci-Fi - Bravo reception over at the Ritz Carlton when we heard the news. So, he took the rumor and put it to the test.
Is Battlestar Galactica being renewed for a fourth season?
Ain’t It Cool News posted the rumor earlier today as it reads,
"From an untested source. If this is someone frakking with us we will strike at him down with the all the fury and anger AICN can muster:
'One of my co-workers is the sister of a Battlestar Galactica [staff function deleted]. She says he just told her the show wasn't being renewed! Get to the bottom of this!!!'
I got a bad feeling about this. Every time we heard something about the "Galactica" made-for-DVD movie, sources always stated it wouldn't happen if the show didn't get a fourth season."
So we tested and here’s what we have been told. Straight from Lana Kim, the Sci-Fi Channel publicist, told Brian directly that no, that is not the case. BSG has not been cancelled and there’s has been no talk of cancellation or the show not being renewed for another season. So unless they haven’t let the publicist and talent know, the feel and word at the TCA’s is that BSG is safe with only a timeslot change for the rest of the current season.
Since its premiere in 2003, "Battlestar" has aired on Friday nights. Starting January 21, 2007, the show will move to a new night and a new time - Sundays at 10p.m. ET/PT. It's set to follow the premiere of the new original series "The Dresden Files" at 9p.m.
“Number Six,” Tricia Helfer, was in attendance today at the reception to tout BSG’s success and exciting future.
So there you go, straight from Sci-Fi’s mouth to your ears, or eyes better said. AICN can now strike this down with all the fury and anger they promised. Have at it!
