New Info on the Battlestar Galactica DTV Movie
Executive Producer talks about what to expect from "Razor"

June 11, 2007 - At last week's fan event for Battlestar Galactica, Executive Producer Ron Moore gave some updates on the upcoming Galactica TV Movie, entitled "Razor", which is set to debut on DVD nearly simultaneously.

Moore confirmed that "most of the main cast" would appear in the project, which he said would "also be released on DVD almost immediately." In previous interviews, Moore had said that "Razor" would be on DVD "the next day" after it aired, though it's not clear yet if that's still true, as no final airdate or DVD release date are known for the project, though it is expected to debut both on TV and DVD sometime in November.

Moore said that storywise, the project went "almost backwards in time", and took place primarily during the second season of the series, right after Lee Adama (Jamie Bamber) was made Commander of the Battlestar Pegasus, and also includes events from earlier on, as the Pegasus, under the command of Admiral Cain (Michelle Forbes) reacts to the Cylon attack that took place during the initial Battlestar miniseries. Moore said key story elements include a new officer who comes onboard Pegasus before the Cylon attack, and Lee's first mission in charge of Pegasus.

When an audience member asked why the show, which is very ethnically diverse, has no gay characters, Moore replied that it had been discussed in the writers' room, but that, "To be honest, it's a failure of the show." However, Bamber then said, "Wait a minute, there's a bit in 'Razor'!", and Moore nodded, saying that was correct.

The night ended with new, never before seen footage, in the form of a trailer for "Razor." It was very compelling stuff, highlighted by Cain's cold vow that "War is our imperative. Revenge. Payback"; Lee seeking his own XO for Pegasus; and the Number Six model named Gina (Tricia Helfer) being found out as a Cylon. The final line was in fact Gina's, as she smiled and said, "Trust me, in the end, we're all just human."
