It seems like everyone is coming out to talk about the last season of Battlestar Galactica. There's nothing like the promise of a big finish to drum up anticipation. Winning the Saturn award for best cable series helps too. Edward James Olmos and Katie Sackhoff accepted the award on behalf of the show and talked up their highly anticipated final year, kicking off with a two hour flashback movie.

Crave Online: How do you feel about next season being the last?

Edward James Olmos: I'm moved to tears because I would like to see this thing go for 10 more. I would love to continue to do the show. It's just that it was always meant to have an ending. Since the beginning, we were told that this was going to end. So they've decided, the writing staff, everybody and Ron, everybody's decided this is it. So it should become quite interesting to see how they end this show.

Crave Online: Do you know what the end will be?

Edward James Olmos: No, I don't. I don't think they do really yet.

Crave Online: How do you feel about the 2 hour flashback episode?

Edward James Olmos: Fantastic. I think they're going to discover some very important issues about what the fan base really, really wants to see and wants to understand about the show. We're headed into the final season. This is the final season as we speak. All of us are very saddened by that but we always knew that there was going to be a conclusion and we were going to find earth. So we will be finding earth this season.

Crave Online: You know, Mark Stern said it will keep going.

Edward James Olmos: He would love it to but it's not going to. I wish it would. I could do 10 years of this easily. I think this is some of the finest usages of television I've ever been a part of in my life bar none. I've been doing this for 42 years. I've done some really good work on television and on motion pictures, but there's nothing like this show. I can honestly tell you that. By far, one of the finest dramatic pieces of work on humanity I've ever seen in my life.

Crave Online: When it's over, will you feel like you're finished?

Edward James Olmos: No, I was just getting started. I was just getting started and you'll see this year. This year we will eat them up and spit them out and they're going to wish they would have gone on for another 10 years.

Crave Online: Is there anything you can tell us?

Edward James Olmos: The most important thing to expect is a tremendous amount of energy. The closer we get to the discovery and the understanding of what this show is really all about, the more intense it's going to get and the more difficult it is to watch.

Crave Online: How about jumping back in time for the flashback?

Edward James Olmos: Well, my involvement is minimal. It's more of a situation of what happened in the Pegasus prior to getting to us. So it's a very powerful piece of work and I must tell you, the writing is just getting [better]. These kids are really doing very well. Ron Moore, I don't think he'll ever have this opportunity again.

Crave Online: Will we see anything happen between Adama and Roslin?

Edward James Olmos: Probably. We're heating it up. We've been pretty intimate without ever getting intimate. It's heading towards it. My instincts are that it's going to do a tremendous about face. That's my instinct.

Crave Online: What will the resurrection of Starbuck mean?

Edward James Olmos: That's interesting. I'd like to know myself because we were told that she was gone. We were all led to believe that. We weren't even around when they filmed that shot. None of us. We saw it at the end like everybody else. The best part of working with a really understanding group of people is they really want everyone to enjoy it so they kept her.

Crave Online: They're coming out with a 25th anniversary DVD for Blade Runner. Is Ridley Scott shooting new scenes for that?

Edward James Olmos: I wish he would. I really wish he would. I know that he's going into the archive and they are going to pull stuff out for the 25th anniversary edition. Yeah, he's re-editing it. He's touching it again. How much of a re-editing, I'm not sure.

Crave Online: Do you remember any lost material you'd look forward to seeing again?

Edward James Olmos: I can't even remember. There was so much shot. We shot for months and they used two hours and 20 minutes. So we had five hours easily worth of assemblage so it's hard to tell what they're going to put back in or how they're going to work with that.

Crave Online: What does the Saturn award mean to you?

Edward James Olmos: I think that honestly it's a very, very high honor and an indication of truly what I consider to be a genre that has really grown an awful lot and I think that this is just one more step in the growth of science fiction. I must say thank you to the writers. David [Weddle]'s here. David's around here and there are other three writers that are here with us that really deserve the most stunning accolades that we could possibly give them because they've really pushed us to this level. I'm very grateful for the work that I've been able to do in my life but I can honestly tell you, this is the best usage of television I've ever been a part of to date.
