Born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on December 10th 1928 John Colicos will live on in the hearts of Scifi fans for many decades to come. John Colicos touched many areas of Scifi but began his acting career in 1946 playing in theater in Canada and acting on stage in hundreds of plays on three continents. John played the first seen Klingon ever seen in Star Trek in the episode Errand of Mercy in 1967. As a matter of fact his character named Kor is the second longest running Star Trek character to be portrayed by a single actor with Leonard Nemoy’s Spock being the longest. John’s final acting job was to portray Kor on Star Trek DS9 in the episode One More Time Until the Breach. John Colicos may be best remembered as Baltar on the 1978 show Battlestar Galactica. His sometimes over the top portrayal of the evil count who betrayed humanity when he formed his own alliance with the Cylons in exchange for his own colony to be sparred is one that most Scifi fans will remember him by. John was also involved in the Richard Hatch produced Galactica movie attempt called Battlestar Galactica The Second Coming where he reprised his role as Baltar. John was married to Mona McHenry from 1956 to 1981 with whom he had two children with. John was a close friend with Lorne Greene also of Battlestar Galactica fame. He was also an avid horseback rider. John Colicos died of a series of heart attacks in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on March 6th, 2000. He will be missed.
